In a time when bands like My Chemical Romance still existed, shirts were painted with broken hearts and the EMO hype was at its peak, the starting pistol was also sounding for Dezemberkind. Today, almost ten years later, little remains of the erstwhile EMO hype. In contrast, the four Stuttgarters still retain the essentials of days past. Today, just like back then, Dezemberkind is about getting straight to unfiltered, raw emotions and yelling them with all their might across the stage edge. It is German language that is used, creating a sound which lies somewhere between Punk and Alternative Rock, nothing in between. They eschew crossing genre borders and let in Pop, as well as hard-core elements. The themes that Dezemberkind pick up on in their texts are in part autobiographical, and in part socio-critical, not sparing political wrongdoings and moving frequently between uncertainty and rage – you might say that Dezemberkind astutely succeeds in capturing the ambience of the current time, reflecting this both musically and lyrically.
