MIDRIFF ‐ three young guys from the Austrian Alps who aren’t so much about Dirndl, Lederhosen and yodelling; rather, for a few years now they have been one of the figureheads when it comes to straightforward, contemporary and powerful Hard Rock from Austria. As a power trio with an unconventional distribution of roles – the singer Paul also sits behind the drums –¬ the band took their debut album across the country in 2012.
With their second album "Doubts & Fears" Midriff cemented their presence in 2015, confirming that Hard Rock and Stoner Riffs were not just the territory of bands from arid regions overseas, but also at home in the monumental backdrop of the Tyrol mountains. Just a mere nine months after the release of their second album, in February 2016 the Live EP "Road Worn" came out, with which Midriff demonstrated, to critics in particular, why the trio sets the place alight like a missile live too.
After almost 300 shows since their debut album in Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, the UK and Hungary and shows with bands such as Rival Sons, Pretty Maids, Chris Slade, Tito & Tarantula, Kyuss Lives, Godsized, Serenity and many more, Midriff got ready to strike in 2017. For the first time the band indulged in an extensive pre¬‐production and song writing phase with only a few, selected gigs and festivals. MIDRIFF took things easier for a few months, with the result being "DECISIONS", which is however in no way softer than previous work. The ten-track album is one of the band’s hardest works to date, featuring contemporary Metal riffs, a drum set driven by Rock grooves. The listener enjoys the light energy of low¬‐end bass teamed with Paul’s inimitable voice, which is a real punch in the pit of your stomach.
